A house with a desk.

Sand Terrace keeps about eight dogs and six cats. The people are few. The work is rooms, walks, and the food you sent.

We would rather turn a date away than add a ninth dog or a seventh cat. The count includes animals already in the house. This website cannot see that count.

The desk

Sunday to Thursday the desk is open 09:00–18:00. Friday it is open 09:00–13:00. Check-in is Sunday to Thursday 10:00–18:00, and Friday 10:00–13:00. Collection is Sunday to Thursday 10:00–11:00, and Friday 10:00–12:00. A later collection has to be agreed in the reply, and it has to fall inside desk hours.

On Saturday the animals are cared for — fed, given water, and dogs are taken into the courtyard — but the desk is quiet. We do not answer the telephone, we do not check anyone in, and we do not hand an animal back. The same quiet desk holds on the first and seventh days of Passover. In 2026 those days are 2 April and 8 April. A stay may cover a quiet day. It cannot start on one, and you cannot collect on one.

What we ask to see

At check-in we ask to see a vaccine booklet that is in date on the day of arrival. For a dog: rabies, and the core vaccines a veterinarian uses for distemper, infectious hepatitis (adenovirus), parvovirus, and parainfluenza. For a cat: rabies, and the core vaccines for rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia. If the booklet is missing or out of date, we do not check the animal in.

We do not vaccinate. We do not examine. We do not diagnose, we do not treat, and we do not give medicines. We do not tell you that staying here protects an animal’s health. If an animal needs clinical care during the dates you want, choose a clinic, not this house.

A trial day is required before the first overnight stay. It is paid at the day rate. It shows whether the animal settles. It is not a health check. If the animal does not settle, we decline the night.

How a request works

You send dates, the animal, and your neighbourhood. We reply if we can take those dates. Until that reply, the room is not held and nothing is owed. Rates, the holiday quarter, and what happens if you cancel are on the suites page, the day page, and the terms.
